Mennonite Worship and Song Committee Purpose Statement (Adopted 02/05/17)

The purpose of the Mennonite Worship and Song Collection is to support vibrant worship in which God calls us to be followers of Jesus Christ and, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to grow as communities of grace, joy, and peace, so that God's healing and hope flow through us to the world.

The collection is intended for use in communities associated with Mennonite Church Canada and Mennonite Church USA, along with other Anabaptist groups. The Shared Convictions of Mennonite World Conference (2006) and Confession of Faith in a Mennonite Perspective (1995) are references for understanding these theologically diverse communities.

The Mennonite Worship and Song Committee aims to serve a broad spectrum of worshipers through stylistic variety and expansive and inclusive language. We strive to reflect and shape today's church in celebrating cultural diversity and engaging contemporary concerns. We hunger for a collection that strengthens relationships, both within and beyond our denominations, as together we receive God’s forgiveness and extend that grace to one another.
